  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. While the cake is baking, prepare the filling. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just starts to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Let sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth.
