SOURDOUGH PANCAKES

Introduction:

These sourdough pancakes are a perfect way to use up your sourdough discard and make a delicious breakfast treat. They are fluffy, tangy, and perfect topped with your favorite syrup or toppings. Give them a try for a unique twist on traditional pancakes!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sourdough starter (unfed/discard)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  7. Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
